Fäviken Opera took off for the first time in the summer of 2007 with the production Il Marito Disperato by Domenico Cimarosa. The success was immediate and newspapers aswell as audience were full of praise for the performances. The Östersunds-Posten found this being “the cultural event of the year” 2007. Fäviken Opera will go on with another opera buffa, i.e. comic opera. For this summer 2008 we will deliver the production L´opera seria by Florian Leopold Gassmann in collaboration with Drottningholms Slottsteater. The sight of Fäviken with its magnificent scenery, the neighbouring Åre and the increasing amount of tourists have been important components for the startingpoint of founding the Fäviken Opera. We want to make room for a social aswell as a cultural meetingplace were people truly can enjoy a different but easily accessible operaevent. With light Jämtland summernights combined with first rate cuisine, we have created necessary qualities for an annual festival that will suit both the unaccustomed operavisitor aswell as the habitué.
